Recently, Union Home Minister inaugurated a 122-foot-high Sagol Kangjei (Polo) Statue at the Ibudhou Marjing complex at Heingang in Imphal (हाल ही में, केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री ने इम्फाल के हिंगांग में इबुधौ मार्जिंग परिसर में 122 फुट ऊंची सगोल कांगजेई (पोलो) प्रतिमा का उद्घाटन किया)

What is Sagol Kangjei (सगोल कांगजेई क्या है)

• Sagol Kangjei is the name of the game of polo played in Manipur (मणिपुर में खेले जाने वाले पोलो के खेल का नाम सगोल कांगजेई है)
• Sagol means pony/horse, Kang means a ball or round object, and jei is a stick used for hitting (सगोल का अर्थ है टट्टू/घोड़ा, कांग का अर्थ है एक गेंद या गोल वस्तु, और जेई एक छड़ी है जिसका उपयोग मारने के लिए किया जाता है)
• In the state of Manipur, it has always been a game for the common man. It is played by seven players on each side and the players are mounted on ponies (मणिपुर राज्य में, यह हमेशा आम आदमी के लिए एक खेल रहा है। यह प्रत्येक पक्ष में सात खिलाड़ियों द्वारा खेला जाता है और खिलाड़ियों को टट्टू पर चढ़ाया जाता है)
• Manipuri polo symbolises the immense cultural heritage of the state, and great efforts have been put made to raise the standard of this popular game (मणिपुरी पोलो राज्य की विशाल सांस्कृतिक विरासत का प्रतीक है और इस लोकप्रिय खेल के स्तर को ऊंचा उठाने के लिए काफी प्रयास किए गए हैं)
• The prominent patrons of the game were King Kyamba and King Khagemba ( 1597-1672 A.D.), and King Chandra Kirti ( 1850 – 1886 A.D.). The latter, especially, is to be credited with popularising the sport in other parts of the world (इस खेल के प्रमुख संरक्षक राजा क्यंबा और राजा खगेम्बा (1597-1672 ई.), और राजा चंद्र कीर्ति (1850-1886 ई.) थे। उत्तरार्द्ध, विशेष रूप से, दुनिया के अन्य हिस्सों में खेल को लोकप्रिय बनाने का श्रेय दिया जाता है )
• There are no goalposts in this game. Goal lines determine the end of the two boundaries of the rectangular field. The ball ( hang drum ) is white. To score a goal the ball must cross the line (इस खेल में कोई गोलपोस्ट नहीं हैं। लक्ष्य रेखाएँ आयताकार क्षेत्र की दो सीमाओं के अंत का निर्धारण करती हैं। गेंद (हैंग ड्रम) सफेद है। गोल करने के लिए गेंद को रेखा के पार जाना चाहिए)
• The polo stick is made of cane or wood, and is called Kang – hu and has a head of hardwood and the ball is made of bamboo root (पोलो की छड़ी बेंत या लकड़ी से बनी होती है, और इसे कांग-हू कहा जाता है और इसका सिर दृढ़ लकड़ी का होता है और गेंद बांस की जड़ से बनी होती है)
• The traditional attire consists of a chin – strap ( khadangchet ) and a turban, for protecting the head. Leg – guards ( khongyom ) are worn below the knee. Since no shoes are worn, the players use khumit – Khang. A leash of thick leather is held by the index finger of the left hand (पारंपरिक पोशाक में सिर की सुरक्षा के लिए एक ठोड़ी-पट्टा (खडंगचेत) और एक पगड़ी होती है। लेग गार्ड (खोंग्योम) घुटने के नीचे पहने जाते हैं। चूँकि जूते नहीं पहने जाते हैं, खिलाड़ी खुमित-खांग का उपयोग करते हैं। बाएं हाथ की तर्जनी द्वारा मोटे चमड़े का पट्टा धारण किया जाता है)
• This is a seasonal game and is played in the Manipuri month of September / October and in   June / July (यह एक मौसमी खेल है और सितंबर/अक्टूबर के मणिपुरी महीने में और जून/जुलाई में खेला जाता है)
